HR Macmillan Space Centre Attractions
The HR Macmillan Space Centre is more than just a museum, it’s a hands-on, high tech offering of everything to do with space and is sure to please both children and adults!
As well as a number of highlights (see below), there’s also a planetarium and an observatory here for visitors to enjoy.
HR Macmillan Space Centre Highlights
Virtual Voyages Motion Simulator
This is one of the Centre’s favorite attractions! Once you’ve had the mission briefing, the motion simulator takes you on a virtual journey through space to the planet Mars where you have to save the inhabitants of the Martian colony.
Cosmic Courtyard
In the Cosmic Courtyard there are many hands-on exhibits including video games, plus presentations, moon rock and more!
Groundstation Canada
This is a 90 seat theater with shows which combine multimedia audio visual presentations with live action giving audiences the chance to participate and to find out about Canada’s own space program.
Planetarium Star Theatre
The Planetarium uses a high tech Zeiss projector which gives 360 degree views of the skies above Vancouver. The exact show in the Planetarium changes; some evenings you can catch a laser show played to the likes of Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin, for example!
Gordon MacMillan Southam Observatory
The Observatory is just next door to the Space Centre and on special nights throughout the year it is open to the public to see the views through the impressive ½ meter Cassegrain telescope.
