Where is Fort Langley National Historic Site?

Fort Langley National Historic Site and the village of Fort Langley is in Langley, within the Greater Vancouver area, and is accessible from Downtown Vancouver by car or Transit.

By car, use Highway 1 east and exit at 232nd Street north. From here it’s just a short distance and is well signed. The journey is a little more complicated by public transportation as it involves several changes, but the easiest way is to take the SkyTrain to Surrey Central Station, then catch bus # 501, 502 or 320 to Langley. Once you get to Langley transfer onto the C62 and get off at the intersection of 96 Avenue and Glover Road from where it is a signed 400 meter walk.

Fort Langley National Historic Site Attractions

Fort Langley itself is a beautiful historic village whose main attraction is the Fort Langley National Historic Site. However, the village also has a picturesque appeal for visitors and should not be overlooked with its museums, historic buildings and more.

The Fort Langley National Historic Site is an important place in the history of Canada as it was here that British Columbia was born when James Douglas declared it a Crown Colony on November 19, 1858. The site was important even before this though as a fortified trading post was constructed here in 1827 and trading took place between the Hudson’s Bay Company and the local First Nations communities.
